Piano in disrepair? I'll be there in five!

For givers, Freecycle.org saves a trip to the Salvation Army.

For takers, it's a bottomless supply of great stuff. When Helen Schwalme first immigrated to Canada, she needed some toys for her two-year-old son but couldn't afford to splurge at a toy store. A neighbour suggested she try Freecycle.org, a network where people can give and receive stuff free of charge. Schwalme signed up, logged on and quickly found a bunch of used Tonka trucks and sandbox toys on offer. Months later, when her son had been potty-trained, she had no more use for her cloth diaper collection but didn't want to throw it all in the garbage, either. So she went back online to Freecycle, wrote a post, and soon enough a new mom was at her door, picking up the diapers, grateful for the price tag of $0.

I know that most of us shop at the same stores on a regular basis so why not contribute to a good cause at the same time??
