In what could be a ground breaking announcement, on Nov 12 Honourable
Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and
Multiculturalism, announced the release of a new citizenship study
guide to help newcomers and Canadians better understand Canada. In a
section called "Equality of Women and Men" the guide states, that
"barbaric" cultural practices such as female genital mutilation are
illegal in Canada.
While the vast majority of Canadians will applaud the fact that the
minister and our government are insuring that the fundamental rights of
our female children are being protected by federal laws, we need to ask
a serious question:
What about our sons?

Throw out the jars, get rid of the boxes of baby cereals, chuck out the
ice cube trays and baby food mills!!!! no more steaming and boiling,
mashing and blending, mixing and storing: It's time to sit down to
dinner and embrace the art of Baby Led Weaning.
....But you might want to hang onto those bibs for a while longer! |

(ARA) - In these tough economic times, families may be putting
themselves at risk by placing more value on the man of the house. Women
are less likely than men to have life insurance, and if they die their
families could be thrown into financial chaos.
“Underinsuring the female, whether she is a working or stay-at-home mom
makes no more sense than underinsuring the male. There are just too
many uninsured couples putting their families at risk,” says Beth Wood,
assistant vice president of business and women’s markets at
Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). |

Where a baby sleeps is not as simple as current medical discourse and
recommendations against co-sleeping in some western societies want it to
be. And there is good reason why. I write here to explain why the
pediatric recommendations on forms of co-sleeping such as bedsharing
will and should remain mixed. I will also address why the majority of
new parents practice intermittent bedsharing despite governmental and
medical warnings against it. |

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby. This is a glorious time in your life. Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, you will find this a time of recovery, adjustment, sleeplessness, sometimes confusion and frustration, but—most wonderfully—of falling in love.
Babies younger than four months old have very different sleep needs than older babies. This article will help you understand your newborn baby's developing sleep patterns and will help you develop reasonable expectations when it comes to your baby and sleep. |
